“Now why didn’t I think of that,” Charlie
remarked to himself.
After a sumptuous dinner at one of
Georgetown’s finest restaurants, they
returned to the hotel and prepared for an
early morning wake-up call. Their next
stop was Arlington National Cemetery for
a ceremony to witness the changing of the
guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,
hosted by U.S. Army General Mark Milley,
the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff. The
General honored his guests by wearing the
uniform that had been worn by officers at
the time of the Korean War. There was polite
conversation, and posing for more pictures.

Afterward, the group convened back
at the hotel for lunch. They hadn’t known
each other prior to this trip, and spent a
few hours swapping war stories and sitting
for interviews with the Foundation’s
videographer.
The Greatest Generations Foundation
(TGGF), created by an Australian Timothy
Davis of Colorado, has offered these all-
expense paid events for veterans for many
years, honoring their service in WWII, Viet
Nam and Korea. Davis has taken these vets
dozens of times to Viet Nam and Korea.
